About Washington, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Washington is located in Daviess County, Indiana, approximately sixty miles southwest of Bloomington and sixty-five miles northeast of Evansville. Founded in 1816 as a railroad town, present day Washington is home to more than 11,000 friendly citizens who enjoy the peaceful rural setting and high quality of life provided by their community.
Evidence of Washington’s rich history can be seen throughout the city in the many historical homes and buildings constructed during the 1800s and early 1900s. The circa 1868 Daviess County Museum, located in the old Masonic Lodge building on Main Street, is operated by the Daviess County Historical Society and features a variety of exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia relevant to the history of the area and includes a military history room, art gallery, and Civil War display.
Washington’s comfortable summers and relatively mild winters provide the perfect environment for the wealth of outdoor sports and recreation opportunities available in and around the city. The Washington Parks & Recreation Department maintains and operates four city parks, including the Henry R. Gwaltney Sports Complex, a multi-use sports and recreation park that features a skate park, sports fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds, and East Side Park, home of the community-wide Fourth of July Festival.
Washington’s excellent schools, affordable housing, and outstanding community amenities make it an excellent place to live in southern Indiana!
