The city is home to a population of around 14,000 residents and a large and diverse industrial base that includes more than fifty-five regional and national manufacturing concerns.
Bedford is home to a host of opportunities for recreation and entertainment. Popular area attractions include Bluespring Caverns, a park and natural area featuring caverns and an underground river. Guests can participate on a guided subterranean boat tour that takes them through the winding passages and watercourses of the underground caverns, see Indiana’s largest sinkhole, and explore the nature trails located in the adjacent Bolton Natural Area. Located just north of Bedford is Monroe Lake Park, a 23,000-acre park site featuring fishing and boating on Lake Monroe, and hunting, hiking, and camping in the surrounding parkland.
